Based upon the IEC Standards, primarily IEC 60079: Parts 10; 14 & 17, Competency Validation and Certification for electrotechnical and mechanical craftspersons and Application Design Engineers working in explosive atmospheres is available in over 12 modules.

Explosive atmospheres occur in onshore and offshore petrochemical plants and refining plants. They are also found in distilleries, paint spraying plants, flourmills, woodworking machine plants, chipboard and MDF pre-production areas, the water industry and all fuel forecourt environments. Failure to ensure safe working practices in these circumstances could result in the ignition of explosive gases or dust clouds leading to injury or even fatalities and the destruction of capital asset investments damaged by explosive blasts and fire.

Competency is only certificated to individuals who;

  • Meet the necessary entry criteria to register for the selected CompEx modules (see below)
  • Pass the underpinning knowledge theory examinations

Peter has achieved certification in following Compex Courses;

Certificate of Core Competence Ex 05-06

EX05 Preparation & Installation of Equipment for use in Ex Dust
EX06 Maintenance & Inspection of Equipment for use in Ex Dust
