Compliance

 

One of our key business objectives requires us to adhere to national and international laws and standards, and the requirement that all employees demonstrate the company’s ethos of integrity and honesty in all their dealings. This ethos is reinforced through risk management and internal quality controls which are embedded throughout AVS and encompass all activities and processes within the company. As an Accredited Inspection Body delivering an independent, impartial and objective service is of paramount importance to us that the accuracy and validity of reports and certificates are beyond reproach and our clients receive the best possible service.

A Code of Integrity is issued to all employees which defines the standards of conduct and integrity to which they must comply. The AVS Code outlines a detailed set of principles and rules to comply with the requirements as outlined in ISO 17020:2012 – Conformity assessment – Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection. Accredited inspection activities are governed by the Irish National Accreditation Board to ensure compliance with this specification standard.

AVS operates a ‘zero tolerance’ policy with regard to breaches of the code of Integrity and all employees are required to sign an agreement, confirming their understanding that any breaches of the Code of Integrity will result in disciplinary action that may include dismissal of the employee concerned.

AVS is committed to developing and maintaining a culture of integrity and honesty, this ethos is instilled in all employees, facilitated by the QMS and enforced by internal and external audit processes.

 

OUR COMPLIANCE OBJECTIVES

  • To conduct all operations in compliance with, or to exceed, all applicable laws and regulations of the jurisdictions in which AVS conduct business.
  • To identify and eliminate threats to impartiality: sources of potential bias that may or reasonably be expected to compromise the ability to make unbiased observations and conclusions.
  • To implement current ‘best practice’ policies and procedures.
  • To maintain a culture based on objectivity, impartiality, integrity and honesty.

Corporate Governance

AVS is committed to high standards of corporate governance, business integrity and professionalism in all its dealings. The Board is responsible for the proper management of the Company and is also accountable to the Company’s shareholders for ensuring that principles of good governance are applied.

The Board is comprised of Executive and Non-Executive Directors with a wide range of skills and experience. The Non-Executive Directors fulfil a key role in corporate accountability and bring objective and independent judgment to issues of performance and strategy.

The Board is responsible for instituting and maintaining AVS’s methods of internal controls, and for evaluating its effectiveness.

The Board confirms that, in addition to internal compliance and quality audits, there is a continual process for the identification, evaluation and management of substantial risks to AVS’s value, both short and long term.
